CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

The cultural and creative industries account for around three percent (3%) of Sweden’s GDP. In Västerbotten county, more than 2,000 businesses operate within these industries. In addition to enriching the cultural and creative development in our county, the industry also creates jobs and economic growth.

In 2015, almost 30 percent of those working in the creative and cultural industries were under the age of 36. Over half, 55 percent, were women and nearly 20 percent had foreign backgrounds.

Swedish exports from businesses within the creative and cultural industries amounted to just over SEK 20.5 billion in 2015. And the potential for future growth is huge.
