SUMMER EXPRESSION

During summer, as a young creator, you’ll get the chance to take your design from idea to finished product in cooperation with skilled manufacturers in the region.

Summer eXpression is a summer program intended for students in aesthetic education, young undiscovered creators, and innovators. The program focuses on the design of everyday articles, and during the programs seven weeks, you will work with sketches and prototypes to then put your design into small-scale production.

Expert guidance

You’ll be mentored by our business coaches and two reputable experts. Margot Barolo, who runs the design agency Margot Barolo AB, and is a program manager at Beckmans Design College. And Johan Gustafsson, CEO of Struktur Industridesign AB and teacher at Umeå Institute of Design.

Design for real

Each participant is offered the opportunity to produce his or her design in a limited number of editions depending on your choice of material and manufacturer. The program, therefore, puts you in early contact with skilled manufacturers who will help you make the right decision for your design.

Summer eXpression is completed with a closing exhibition where you get the chance to showcase and sell your product.

Admission

The program receives ten participants, admitted by a jury consisting of our business coaches and experienced industry experts.

The application for Summer eXpression 2019 opens in February.
