After seven intense summer weeks and close collaboration with regional entrepreneurs, this year’s work from Summer eXpression will be released to the public on 23 August.

“We have had fun weeks together, it is always as interesting to follow the student trip together with our talented producers. Now it’s exciting to see what the visitors like, “says Barbro Renkel, business coach at Uminova eXpression and Program Manager for Summer eXpression.

Between June and August, ten young designers have been given the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurship and tested to take a design idea from sketch to finished product. This is the second year that the summer program is being implemented and now the students’ work will be displayed.

Summer eXpression has collaborated with the companies Västerbotten this year, which resulted in a broader and deeper cooperation with several regional producers. Pontus Möller, partner of FurnitureFarm, is one of the producers who participated:

“It has been very rewarding for us to work with these young designers, with both exciting products and fun challenges we have engaged in. We mostly produce television benches in common cases so this has given us new ideas to spin on.

A total of ten producers have participated, and some of the products produced may also be available for sale. In October, the products will also be sold at the Design Square.

“Our ambition is that the students after the program will feel stronger, both in their role as designer and entrepreneur. It’s a tough industry, but good partnerships can take you very far, says Barbro Renkel.

Hanna Rönntoft is one of the participants of this year’s Summer eXpression. Together with the producer Agraffdesign, she has created a ceramic pot that will put her users on a sensation scene in nature.

“To work so close to production and with those who really can, the material has been very valuable. The feeling was, “Well, is this possible?”. To get an idea and do something of it, absolutely amazing.

The Vernissage will be held in White Box at Sliperiet, Thursday 23 August, 17:00 to 18:30.
